How to Get Teeth in a Day

Those who have lost teeth due to unchecked dental decay or trauma want them back as quickly as possible. Not only can it can be very embarrassing to walk around with a gappy smile, but it also can impair chewing and negatively affect quality of life. Luckily, it is possible to recover teeth quickly through implant dentistry. One of the advantages of implant dentistry over other options like bridges and dentures is that the replacement teeth do not come with dietary limitations. They also feel and look more natural than other options. Best of all, “teeth in a day” implant dentistry can be performed quickly: while it used to take many months to prepare for implantation, recent dental advances allow the procedure to be finished in as little as one day.
The first step of the procedure is the extraction of any remaining fragments of the missing teeth and the removal of any infected or dead tissue. Next, a specialized drill is used to create a hole in the area. Though it sounds serious, this step will not cause any damage to the jaw. Next, implants are placed in the bone and covered with cosmetic crowns. These artificial teeth are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. (After the implant has settled in fully, a final, more robust crown is inserted.)
Note that this procedure is not desirable for all patients. For these people the slower process of “osseointegration” (integration of the implant and jawbone) is the better option. This is true for those who need to get molars replaced. These teeth are central in chewing, and thus are stressed much more than front teeth. Molars need to be more strongly integrated with the jawbone. Fortunately, missing molars present few cosmetic difficulties.
Patients undergoing this surgery will be sedated with anesthesia. Those who fear the procedure can be put to sleep during the surgery. Despite this anesthetic, post-surgery discomfort is possible, though you will be prescribed medicine to ameliorate this pain.
The cost of the procedure will depend on a number of factors, most notably the number of new teeth required. Some preparatory and follow-up work may also be necessary and will also cost money. Only an implant dentist can give the exact amount after a consultation.
If all the steps are followed properly, dental implantation is successful in 95% of cases. Proper maintenance will prolong the life of the dental implant. Proper brushing and flossing as well as regular visits to the dentist will keep implanted teeth healthy and strong for years to come.
